Great Sharpener
Works as well as the Spyderco but only offers one sharpening angle. The 40 degree angle is what most production knives use anyway. The diamond stone is a bit more aggressive and complements the ceramic rods nicely. Works well with serrations and the carbide cutters seem to work well for duller edges.

Outstanding sharpener
A buddy of mine had one of these at our deer camp this winter and I sharpened my knife with it and was blown away. Wow. I made a note to buy one as soon as I got home.
Well I did and I couldn't be more satisfied. I've since sharpened all of my hunting/pocket/GP knifes with it and they are all awesome-sharp.
I give this sharpener three snaps! ( old reference, I know! ) Buy one , you will be happy with it.
Low-priced alternative to the Sharpmaker
My favorite sharpener set is the Spyderco Sharpmaker, but that is an expensive thing.
The Smith's CCD4 offers a similar easy-to-use ceramic sticks. All you do is gently drag the blade along the white sticks. No worries about getting the angle right, because all you have to do is keep the blade upright.
Smith's diamond surface is not as consistent when new as similar sharpeners by DMT, but that's OK because it is a coarse surface for initial grinding. Most of the time you will be using the white stones to keep your blade in top condition.
I don't recommend the tiny carbide drag-through feature (on the base between the orange surface and the white rods). This type of sharpener is fast, but can damage a blade if not used carefully.
Alternatives:
Lansky's "crock stick" series with the wood bases. NOT recommended. The rods are kind of lumpy, and also lack the texture to sharpen steel. Everything a sharpener should not be...
