Works well at close range; batteries expensive
I would recommend these: Bushnell Night Watch 2x24 w/Built in Infrared Monocular, just because they operate on two AA batteries. This uses expensive photo batteries. The manual doesn't even tell you what size batteries either.

I got these for a family member. Didn't want to spend an arm and a leg, and they work fine for what they are.
